A new year begins...

All through 2017, I spent way too much time lamenting the state of my very divided nation and feeling overwhelmed by tragedies, both natural and man-made.  I missed opportunities to reach out to those marginalized by prejudice and poverty.  While I resolve to find those opportunities in 2018, I also recognize the redeeming graces of literature to uplift our human condition through story - whether accounts of overcoming hardship, developing new relationships, or just learning to appreciate the gifts God has given us.  

So...for 2018, I resolve to share a favorite book on this blog each day...one that uplifts or sheds new light.  Some titles will be novels; others will be non-fiction, and some will be young adults novels from the days when I worked as a YA librarian.  All of the reviews will be my own, unless noted.  All titles are available online and through local libraries, unless noted.
